The syntheses and crystal structures of 2,3-bis[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-2,3dihydro-4H-1,3-benzothiazin-4-one (di-m-CF3; C22H13F6NOS) (1) and 2,3-bis(4-methylphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-4H-1,3-benzothiazin-4-one (di-p-CH3; C22H9NOS) (2) are reported. Each structure is racemic: the asymmetric unit of 2 consists of two molecules. In both 1 and 2, the six-membered 1,3-thiazine ring is close to an envelope conformation with the chiral C atom forming the flap. In 1, the 2-aryl group is pseudo-equatorial, while in 2 it is pseudo-axial. In 1, the pendant aryl rings form a V shape with an inter-centroid distance of 3.938 (3) A and an acute dihedral angle of 48.3 (2) between them. Both CF3 groups are disordered over two orientations in 0.687 (19):0.313 (19) and 0.667 (16):0.33 (16) ratios. Synthesis of quinoline/naphthalene-containing azaphenothiazines and their potent in vitro antioxidant properties

New tetracyclic and pentacyclic azaphenothiazines containing one or two quinoline rings instead of benzene rings were obtained in the original reactions of isomeric diquinodithiins, dichlorodiquinolinyl sulfides, and disulfide with aromatic amines. The type of ring fusion in the azaphenothiazine system was concluded from the H-1 NMR spectra. The obtained azaphenothiazines were evaluated in vitro for their antioxidant activity on rat hepatic microsomal membranes for protection of non-enzymatic lipid peroxidation promoted by the Fe2+/ascorbic acid redox system. Most compounds exhibited a very significant antioxidant activity with IC50 values between 1 and 23 mu M. The degree of antioxidant activity depends on the lipophilicity and molecular size as well as the (non)substitution of the thiazine nitrogen atom and type of ring system fusion. It is the first time to our knowledge that azaphenothiazines are shown to exhibit such potent antioxidant activity.

The complex of zinc with N-(5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3-thiazine-2-yl)benzamide

A complex of zinc with N-(5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3-thiazin-2-yl)benzamide (L) ligand, LZnCl2, was synthesized for subsequent medical trials. The molar extinction coefficients were determined for LHBr solutions in water and physiological saline, and for LZnCl2 ethanol solution. The ligand stability in various solvents was evaluated and the value of its protonation constant was found for the physiological saline solution, logK = 5.3 +/- 0.2. The impossibility of determination of the complex stability constant by the potentiometric titration method was demonstrated. The complex exhibited an insufficient stability in aqueous and physiological saline solutions, but was stable as the solution in alcohol. There was no sorption observed upon the treatment of ligand with hydroxyapatite nanoparticles, which could be a potential carrier for the therapeutic form of LZnCl2, providing additional degrees of freedom for the interaction of ligand with cell membranes and a prolonged action of zinc ions.

New ternary Cu(II)-chelates with the general formula [ML L(H2O)(x)] (NO3)(y) x (H2O), x=0-2 and y=0-1, (L)=5-acetyl-4-hydroxy-2H-1,3-thiazine-2,6(3H)-dione with in the presence of a secondary ligand (L) [N,O-donor; 8 hydroxyquinoline or N,N-donor; 1,10-phenanthroline and diethethylendiamine]. Characterization of the synthesized complexes was established based on elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, spectral (infrared, electronic, mass, H-1-NMR and ESR) as well as thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The complexes exhibited octahedral and square planer geometry. The antimicrobial activity for the studied complexes was tested for different kind of organisms. The geometrical and non-linear optical parameters of the studied complexes 1-3 are investigated theoretically at the B3LYP/GENECP level of theory. The optimized geometries of the studied complexes are non-planner as indicated from the dihedral angles. The natural charge population (core, valence and Rydberg), exact electronic configuration, total Lewis, and total non-Lewis is computed and discussed in terms of natural bond orbitals (NBO) analysis. The calculated E-HOMO and E-LUMO energies at the same level of theory of the studied complexes were used to calculate the global properties; hardness (), global softness (S), electrophilicity () and electronegativity (). The total dipole moment ((tot)), total and anisotropy of polarizability (??), () and first hyperpolarizability (??) values were calculated and compared with urea as a reference compound. From the values of the computed first hyperpolarizability (??), the ligand and the studied complexes show promising optical properties.

The modified electrode was applied as an electrochentical sensor for oxidation of epinephrine (EP). Under the optimum conditions, the over potential of EP oxidation decreased about 279 mV at the modified CPE more than a non-modified CPE. Electrochemical behavior of EP was investigated on the fabricated electrode by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) methods, and some kinetic parameters of EP Were obtained, too. The linear range and the detection limit for EP were found to be 1.5-600.0 WM and 0.65 uM (based on 3 sum), respectively using the EDDPT/GO/CPE sensor and the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) method. Also, the designed electrochemical sensor was applied to determine EP in the drug sample and simultaneous determination of epinephrine (EP), acetaminophen (AC) and dopamine (DA) in human serum solutions.
