Novel series of dihydroquinolindihydro-spiro[indoline-3,6 ‘-[1,3]thiazine]-5 ‘-carbonitrile derivatives

A series of new spiro[indoline-3,6’-[1,3]thiazines] were synthesized in modest yields by refluxing of substituted (1,2-dihydroquinolin-3-yl)-methylene)hydrazinecarbothioamides with 2-(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)malononitrile in pyridine as a solvent. The structure assignment of all obtained products has been confirmed by H-1, C-13 NMR, 2D-NMR, N-15 NMR spectroscopy in addition to elemental analyses. SYNTHESIS OF SOME NOVEL THIAZOLE, THIADIAZOLE AND 1,4-PHENYLENE-BIS-THIAZOLE DERIVATIVES AS POTENT ANTITUMOR AGENTS

A novel series of 2-ethylidenehydrazono-5-arylazothiazoles 5a-h and 2-ethylidenehydrazono-5-arylazothiazolones 9a-d were prepared by cyclocondensation of hydrazonyl halides 3a-h and 7a-d with ethylidenethiosemicarbazide 2. In addition, reaction of 2 with N-phenyl-carbohydrazonyl chloride (14), afforded 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivative 17 as the end product. Moreover, the thiosemicarbazide derivative 2 was reacted with various bromoacetyl compounds 19a-d and 1,1′-(1,4-phenylene)bis(2-bromoethanone) (21) furnished the respective thiazole derivatives 20a-d and 1,4-phenylene-bis-thiazole derivative 22. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were established on the basis of spectroscopic evidences and their alternative syntheses. The newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antitumor activities against hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cell line and the results revealed promising activities of compounds 5h, 5d, 5g, 5f and 5e with IC50 equal 2.23 +/- 0.28, 2.48 +/- 0.34, 2.49 +/- 0.24, 4.03 +/- 0.11, and 5.32 +/- 0.27 mu M, respectively.

Photocatalytic degradations of three dyes with different chemical structures using ball-milled TiO2

The changes in the structure characteristics, including the more amorphous surface morphology, the increased specific surface area, the growth in the percentage of high-index crystal faces, etc., were proposed to be the possible reasons for the promoted photocatalytic capability of BM2 TiO2 (A). Ball milling was found a handy approach to modify TiO2 (A) and boost catalytic degradation efficiency of dyes. Synthesis of New Azoles and Azolopyrimidines Incorporating Morpholine Moiety as Potent Anti-Tumor Agents

A new series of morpholinyl-chalcones 2a-d was prepared by reaction of 2-oxo-N,4-diarylbut-3-enehydrazonoyl chlorides 1a-d with morpholine. The assigned structures for all the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed on the basis of elemental analyses and spectral data and the mechanisms of their formation were also discussed. All the synthesized compounds were tested for in vitro activities against two antitumor cell lines, human lung cancer (A-549) and human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG-2) compared with the employed standard antitumor drug (cisplatin) and the results revealed that compounds 6, 8c and 17 have promising activities compared with cisplatin.

Antimicrobial Properties of Substituted Quino [3,2-b]benzo[1,4] thiazines

Our previous studies demonstrated that among phenothiazines several derivatives could be found showing strong antiproliferative actions and the property of inhibiting inducible tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha) production in human blood cultures. The aim of this investigation was to determine potential antimicrobial actions of forty four new phenothiazine derivatives with the quinobenzothiazine structure. The compounds showed differential antibacterial and antifungal activities against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans depending on the compound structures, concentrations and bacterial strains. More specifically, 6-(1-methyl-2-piperidylethyl) quinobenzothiazine displayed strongest actions against S. aureus and E. coli whereas 6-methanesulfonylaminobutyl-9-methylthioquinobenzothiazine exhibited the most universal antimicrobial properties. The correlation between antimicrobial activity and the chemical structure of quinobenzothiazines was discussed.
